Career History

Neutralogics Ltd (1989-Present)

Chris founded Neutralogics in 1989 and has primarily provided software solutions and consultancy services for the UK Government. For the Department of Health he has delivered numerous systems using Microsoft®, Lotus® and (until 1995) SAS® Software.  Notable highlights include:
  • Performance statistics collection, data warehousing and graphical reporting system (ASP.net, XML, XSL, SQL Server, SVG)
  • Intranet based reporting system to track performance in handling official correspondence (ASP, XML, XSL, XSLT)
  • News Bulletin to deliver important messages to the Workstations of all 5000 DofH staff (XML, HTTP, VB) 
  • Intranet based regional briefing system for the Minister of State for Health (ASP)
  • Internet statistical data collection (ASP, XML, XSL, XSLT)
  • Comprehensive Health Information Project Wizard (COM, Access, Notes, Word, Excel)
  • Administrative systems for the BSE Inquiry (Access, Word, Lotus Notes)
  • NHS complaints management and tracking system (Access)
  • Health Service Indicator creation and analysis (SAS)

Chris has mainly used Rapid Application Development (RAD) techniques which require a high degree of user focus to the design and development of systems, the use of prototyping and good communication skills.  RAD also draws on his flexible approach, fast and accurate programming skills and strong commitment to the delivery of the final system.  He also has experience throughout the system development life cycle, key skills include:

Natwest Bank Operational Research Group (1987-1989)

On graduation Chris joined the Natwest Bank O.R. Group as an analyst. The group performed project based analysis to support major business decisions. He was responsible for the gathering and analysis of statistics, writing reports and developing systems to assist in these analyses. Projects included:

  • Cost benefit analysis of opening branches for extended hours
  • Monitoring a pilot of dedicated insurance sales staff for branches
  • Assessing the likely impact of the introduction of interest payments for current accounts
  • Development of a manpower planning system for UK Branch Banking
  • Study of the disk storage requirements for a new operational banking system
  • Structuring and analysis of large corporate finance deals.
     
 

PGL Adventure Holidays (1984)

Chris was a canoe instructor in South Wales for the summer between school and university.
